Sean competed (with partner Rodney Murdoch) in the 2005 SkillsUSA web design competition. They took first place at state with this entry. Link

Once in college, Sean continued his tradition of competition and with teammates Andy Spencer and Jon Ziebell put an entry into the IEEE Computer Society 60th Anniversary History Competition (CHC60). Link
